Siegesallee, street in Berlin, Germany

Siegesallee was a grand 750-meter boulevard in Berlin's Tiergarten district lined with statues of German rulers and military leaders from different eras. The avenue connected Schloss Bellevue to the Großer Stern and served as a statement of power and national pride.

The avenue was built in the late 1800s under Kaiser Wilhelm II to celebrate German military victories. It was destroyed during World War II, and most of its statues disappeared afterward.

The site can be explored from the Großer Stern viewpoint, which has information boards explaining the history. The area is easily accessible by public transport and can be walked through at your own pace.

Some original statues were buried after the war and later excavated, revealing fragments of this past. These remnants show how different generations had conflicting views about these monuments.
