Zeche Helene, Former coal mine in Essen, Germany.

The Zeche Helene complex includes preserved industrial structures with a prominent administrative building designed by architect Körner in the early 20th century.

The mine started operations in 1873 after reaching the Carbon layer, employing thousands of workers and producing over 670,000 tons of coal annually by 1904.

The industrial complex transformed from a mining facility into a community center, reflecting the evolution of the Ruhr region's social landscape.

The site currently offers sports facilities including badminton courts, fitness areas, and beach volleyball fields, with regular courses available through scheduled bookings.

The mine shaft reached a depth of 975 meters in 1941, connecting with neighboring facilities to form the integrated mining complex Sälzer Amalie.
