Titisee-Neustadt, Health resort and urban municipality in Black Forest, Germany
Titisee-Neustadt sits at 850 meters elevation in the High Black Forest and unites six communities into one administrative municipality. Lake Titisee covers 130 hectares and forms the natural heart of the area.
The princes of Fürstenberg founded Neustadt in 1250 as a planned settlement in the Black Forest. In 1971, Neustadt and Titisee joined with four other communities to create the current municipality.
The name combines the lake with the settlement founded by the Fürstenberg princes, reflecting how the two centers grew together over time. Along the historic Clock Road, workshops and shops recall the centuries when Black Forest clocks were crafted in these valleys.
Two railway stations and federal highways B31 and B317 lead into the municipality, where hotels and health resorts welcome visitors. The High Black Forest location brings a mountain climate with cool summers and snowy winters.
The Hochfirst ski jump at the edge of town ranks as Germany's largest natural jumping facility and allows jumps reaching 148 meters in distance. Competitions on the hill regularly draw spectators from across the region.
