Temple d'Esculape, Roman temple ruins in Trier, Germany
Located near the Moselle River, the Temple of Asclepius spans an area of 170 by 88 meters with a central podium measuring 45 by 26 meters.
The temple construction dates back to the last third of the 1st century CE, with inscriptions indicating renovations between 161 and 169 CE under Titus Iulius Saturninus.
The temple complex served as a religious center dedicated to Asclepius, the Roman god of medicine and healing, featuring a large statue within its northern apse.
The remaining temple wall sections are accessible inside a parking garage on Hinter dem Zollamt street, near the Roman Bridge in Trier.
In 1993, archaeologists discovered 2,570 gold coins weighing 18.5 kilograms near the temple's northern edge, now displayed at the Rheinisches Landesmuseum.
