Bahnbetriebswerk Koblenz-Mosel, Railway maintenance facility in Koblenz, Germany.
The Koblenz-Mosel railway depot is a maintenance facility in Koblenz featuring a 30-track roundhouse with a turntable at its center. Supporting structures include a water tower, workshop buildings, and administrative offices arranged around the main complex near the Moselle River.
The facility opened in 1900 after four years of construction and served as a locomotive maintenance center until its closure in 1988. After this shutdown, the site gradually lost its role as an active railway workshop and was eventually repurposed.
This depot represented the industrial development of Rhineland-Palatinate, supporting regional railway connections between Koblenz and neighboring cities.
The site is now a preserved monument that can be viewed from outside, offering insight into industrial railway architecture from public access points. The best vantage points are along the paths surrounding the grounds, where the roundhouse structure and its distinctive design are clearly visible.
Two concrete bunkers were built on the grounds during World War II to shelter railway workers during air raids. These protective structures remain visible today and serve as reminders of the facility's strategic importance to regional transport during wartime.
