Zinna Abbey, Cistercian monastery in Jüterbog, Germany
The monastery complex includes a Gothic church, former abbot residence, historic weaving houses, and preserved medieval limestone structures along tree-lined paths.
Founded in 1170 by Archbishop Wichmann of Magdeburg, the monastery controlled 300 square kilometers of land until Protestant Reformation led to its closure in 1553.
The museum in the former abbot residence displays Gothic frescoes, scale models of medieval buildings, and exhibits about Cistercian monastic life in Brandenburg.
The monastery grounds remain partially open for visitors, with guided tours available through the restored abbey church, weaving house, and former leper house.
The former leper house produces Zinnaer Klosterbruder, a traditional herbal liqueur made from local ingredients according to medieval monastic recipes.
