Burgruine Igelsburg, Medieval castle ruins in Dörnberg, Germany.

The Igelsburg castle remains stand on a 466-meter basalt hill near the upper course of the Ahne river in Habichtswald Nature Park.

Initially known as Engelsburg around 1100, the castle belonged to the Lords of Doringenberg and fell into ruins by the end of the 18th century.

Archaeological excavations at Igelsburg revealed evidence of a small pottery workshop that operated between 1350 and 1450 within the castle grounds.

The castle site is accessible through hiking trails that connect to Federal Road 251, located 700 meters north of the ruins.

The ruins overlook Lake Silbersee, which formed after the cessation of basalt mining activities in the surrounding area.
