Kloster Rechentshofen, 13th century monastery in Sachsenheim, Germany
The monastery complex stands in a rural setting with its restored church and crypt marking centuries of religious presence in Baden-Württemberg.
Founded in 1230 by Belrein von Eselsberg and Agnes von Bilversheim, the monastery joined the Cistercian Order in 1267 through its connection to Maulbronn.
The monastery served as both a religious center and a residence for daughters from lower nobility and wealthy merchant families until its dissolution.
The former monastery grounds now function as a private equestrian facility, with no public access to the historical buildings.
During the Peasants' War of 1525, local farmers attacked and burned the monastery, leading to its eventual transformation into a ducal hunting lodge.
