Museum over Franz Liszt, Music composer memorial museum in Weimar, Germany.
Liszt-Haus is the residence where the famous composer lived and taught during his final years in Weimar. The rooms contain personal possessions, furniture, and two pianos that give a sense of his daily life.
The composer moved into this house in 1869 and made it a center for music teaching until his death in 1886. During this time, he taught a new generation of pianists and continued creating new compositions.
The house displays manuscripts and letters that show Liszt's impact on piano music and his legacy as a teacher. Visitors can see how this place became a gathering point for musicians and students from across Europe.
The museum is open Wednesday to Monday with varying hours depending on the season. It is advisable to wear comfortable shoes, as the historic rooms are tight and involve many stairs.
The composer's original Bechstein piano still sits in the house and is occasionally played by musicians. This allows visitors to hear the remarkable sound quality of the instrument that Liszt himself used daily.
