St. Fideliskirche, Catholic church in Stuttgart-West, Germany
St. Fideliskirche is a church building in Stuttgart-West with a basilica layout, soaring gabled front, and vertical ribbing across its facade. A cross mounted on a sphere crowns the roofline.
The building was constructed from 1924 to 1925 according to architect Clemens Hummel's design. Following serious damage in World War II, architect Hugo Schlösser oversaw its reconstruction.
The church displays stained glass windows by Georg Meistermann and Stations of the Cross throughout its interior. Liturgical furnishings carved from limestone monoliths by Martin Bruno Schmid shape the worship space.
The church sits at the corner of Rosenbergstrasse and Seidenstrasse with easy public transport access nearby. The Diakonie Hospital Stuttgart and Hoppenlau School are located just adjacent to the building.
A 2019 renovation created a meditation room with six portal doors and a wooden chancel structure. Natural light pours through the doorways into this space for quiet reflection.
