Temple of Hephaestus, Ancient Greek temple in Thiseio, Greece

The Temple of Hephaestus stands on Agoraios Kolonos hill in the Ancient Agora of Athens, constructed with Pentelic and Parian marble in Doric style.

Built between 449 and 420 BCE during the Golden Age of Athens, the temple survived through centuries of different uses, including its transformation into a Christian church.

The temple represents traditional Greek religious architecture with intricate friezes depicting mythological scenes and battles between gods and mortals on its exterior walls.

Visitors can reach the temple through the Monastiraki or Thiseio metro stations and purchase entrance tickets that include access to the entire Ancient Agora complex.

The structure maintained its original columns and roof intact, making it the most complete ancient Greek temple still standing in the Mediterranean region.
