Corfu Regional Unit

The Corfu Regional Unit is an administrative area in northwestern Greece comprising the main island of Corfu and several smaller islands in the Ionian Sea. The territory includes Paxoi, Othonoi, Ereikoussa, and Mathraki, each with its own character and communities.

This territory was established as a prefecture in 1864 when the Ionian Islands became part of the Greek state. The islands have maintained their distinct administrative identities throughout the following centuries while remaining connected as a region.
