Didymoteicho is a town in the region of East Macedonia and Thrace in northeastern Greece. Located in hilly terrain near the borders with Bulgaria and Turkey, it serves as an important local center for the surrounding district.
The town was originally founded by the Ottomans and served as an important trade post in the region for centuries. After Greece took control, it developed into a regional administrative center.
The town is best explored on foot, as most shops and services are concentrated in the center. Spring and autumn are ideal times to visit when the weather is milder.
