Long Beach

Long Beach stretches about 5 kilometers along the Cretan coastline and features a mix of coarse grey sand and fine pebbles beside the Libyan Sea. The eastern section offers facilities such as loungers and umbrellas, while numerous sections of the long shoreline remain completely untouched.

The beach remained an untouched coastal strip until the 1970s, when gradual development began to transform it into a partially developed beach destination. This slow process of change has shaped the place as it exists today.

The beach is a place where visitors experience nature in a direct way, especially when protected white sand lilies bloom in autumn. These flowers show how the location connects with natural seasonal rhythms.

The eastern end of the beach offers umbrellas, loungers, and a small food canteen to make a visit more comfortable. The rest of the beach remains mostly simple and natural, so visitors can choose according to their preference where to spend time.

A notable aspect of the beach is a natural phenomenon in shallow water: wading leaves feet surprisingly clean, while the coarse sand on the shore feels sticky. This contrast between water and land is striking.
