Pointe de Platé

Pointe de Platé is a mountain summit in Haute-Savoie that reaches 2554 meters and is marked by crystalline schist formations. The ridge drops steeply and exposes various layers of stone and rocky debris.

The massif became part of the Sixt-Passy Natural Reserve to protect local wildlife and plants. This designation later enabled scientific research across the mountainous region.

The surrounding mountain houses display traditional stone-building techniques that reflect local heritage. Visitors can see how shepherds historically used these high slopes for seasonal grazing.

The ascent requires climbing gear and physical preparation, especially in winter months. The Platé refuge sits about 1000 meters below the summit and offers a rest point along the route.

The summit offers distant views across the High Alps and sits in a zone where rare alpine plants thrive. The plant variety here regularly attracts researchers and nature enthusiasts.
