Muette, Administrative quarter in 16th arrondissement, Paris, France

Muette is a residential quarter in Paris's 16th arrondissement that stretches from the Bois de Boulogne down to the Seine River, with the Trocadéro area forming its heart. The neighborhood features tree-lined streets, period buildings, and several important museums and gardens.

The area was annexed to Paris in 1860 when it transformed from rural farmland into an urban residential zone. During the 19th century, wealthy families built grand houses here, reshaping it into an upscale neighborhood.

The name comes from a medieval castle that once dominated the area before disappearing centuries ago. Today you can feel the influence of art and intellectual life through the museums and galleries scattered throughout the neighborhood.

The neighborhood is easily reached by metro line 9 and several bus routes, making it simple to explore on foot. Being close to the Bois de Boulogne means you can combine a visit with a walk through the nearby woods and parks.

The Jardin du Ranelagh hidden within the quarter preserves an old-fashioned playground complete with vintage wooden carousels that still operate much as they did a century ago. This green space offers a glimpse into how children's recreation once looked in this wealthy area.
