Monte Perdido Massif, Mountain range and UNESCO World Heritage Site in Pyrenees, Spain and France

The Monte Perdido Massif rises to 3,355 meters, forming the third highest peak in the Pyrenees with sedimentary rock formations and deep valleys.

The area contains numerous archaeological remnants from the Paleolithic era, including stone circles and dolmens that indicate early human settlements.

Local communities maintain traditional pastoral practices through transhumance, moving livestock between Spanish and French slopes according to seasonal patterns.

Visitors can access the massif through multiple entry points, with the Ordesa Valley in Spain and Cirque de Gavarnie in France offering established hiking trails.

The massif stands at the collision point of Iberian and West European tectonic plates, creating a complex geological structure with canyons and cirque walls.
