Le Buclon

Le Buclon is a limestone ridge in the French Alps that rises to approximately 2072 meters and forms part of the Bargy mountain chain. The distinctive rock formation dominates the landscape and draws hikers seeking to explore the Alpine heights.

Le Buclon formed from rock layers dating to the Urgonian and Hauterivian periods, composed primarily of limestone and marl deposits. These ancient sediments shaped the geology of this mountain region over millions of years.

Local mountaineers frequent the trails surrounding Le Buclon to study Alpine flora and observe the native wildlife of the French mountains.

The hike requires suitable mountain gear and climbing experience, as the available trails are steep and partially exposed. Weather conditions and daylight hours should be checked carefully before starting out.

From this vantage point, Lake Lessy spreads to the northwest while the Samance plateau and Chinaillon village lie across the southern views. This panoramic position makes the summit a favorite spot for photographers and nature watchers.
