Pointe d'Almet, Mountain summit in Le Grand-Bornand, France.

Pointe d'Almet is a mountain summit made of clay and limestone that rises to 2232 meters with steep grassy slopes forming a pyramid shape. It sits within the Bornes-Aravis range and displays the typical geological character of this region.

Early mountaineers documented the first ascents of this summit while exploring the French Alps during the great era of Alpine discovery. These historical routes remain in use today and form the basis for modern hiking paths.

The mountain sits within territories claimed by two neighboring communities that share Alpine heritage through pastoral traditions. These open grasslands reflect how local life has adapted to the high mountains for centuries.

The hike takes about three hours from the Col des Annes parking area with an elevation gain of roughly 520 meters across unmarked grassy terrain. Good hiking boots and preparation for changing mountain conditions are essential since the ground underfoot varies constantly.

The summit sits directly on the boundary between Le Grand-Bornand and Le Reposoir territories and forms part of a geological formation called Klippe des Annes. This border position means two local identities meet at the very top.
