Tête de la Sallaz, Mountain peak in Nancy-sur-Cluses, France
Tête de la Sallaz is a 2026-meter peak in the French Alps and forms the northernmost summit of the Aravis range. The terrain combines alpine meadows with rocky sections and offers various access routes for hikers of different abilities.
The mountain has long been used by shepherds for access to high-altitude pasture areas during summer grazing seasons. These early herding routes later became the foundation for the hiking trails that exist on the mountain today.
Local mountain guides maintain and share their knowledge of seasonal routes, weather patterns, and climbing techniques with visiting mountaineers throughout the year.
The summit is accessible via marked trails from several starting points, including Romme village. On open days, visitors can use the ski lift to reach higher elevations more quickly.
From this summit, you can see both the Arve Valley and Le Reposoir, making it a natural vantage point between two regions. The views reveal distinct differences in landscape and vegetation on either side of the mountain.
