Pointe Dzérat, Mountain summit in Le Reposoir, France.
Pointe Dzérat is a limestone summit in the Bornes-Aravis range with steep eastern and southern faces. The formation displays the characteristic hogback structure of Alpine geology and offers climbing options along these rock walls.
The summit formed during Alpine mountain-building millions of years ago, which shaped its characteristic ridge structure. This geological process affected the entire Bornes-Aravis mountain group.
Local mountaineers maintain fourteen established climbing routes on Pointe Dzérat, ranging from beginner to advanced difficulty levels between grades 5b and 7a.
The route starts from Col de la Colombière parking area with hiking through established paths near Montarquis. The ascent takes around 45 minutes and follows marked trails through the mountain terrain.
Weather shifts rapidly throughout the day, changing from hard morning snow to spring-like conditions by afternoon. These quick transformations significantly affect climbing and hiking conditions.
