Pointe des Pichères, Mountain peak in Vanoise Massif, France.
Pointe des Pichères is a summit in the French Alps located within Vanoise National Park at approximately 3300 meters elevation. The terrain around the peak consists of rocky slopes and snow fields, with glaciers visible in the surrounding valleys.
The summit became an important reference point for mountain climbers exploring the Savoie region in the early 1900s. Growing interest in Alpine mountaineering during that era made this peak a destination for experienced climbers.
Local shepherds maintain the ancient tradition of seasonal migration to the lower pastures of Pointe des Pichères for Beaufort cheese production.
The route from Rosuel requires a full day of climbing with around 1860 meters of elevation gain on marked trails. You should have mountaineering experience and plan for favorable weather conditions.
The area above 2000 meters offers good snow conditions for ski touring from December through April with long descents. This seasonal activity makes the peak a popular destination for winter mountaineers.
