Chapelle de l'Adoration

The Chapelle de l'Adoration is a place of worship in central Grenoble featuring a modest exterior that conceals its ornate interior. The space centers on a marble altar decorated with angel heads and rose garlands.

The building was constructed in the second half of the 17th century as a place for the Penitents of Mercy. In 1739, the White Penitents took over the chapel and shaped its subsequent use.

The chapel now serves as a Russian Orthodox place of worship, demonstrating how this space has adapted to different religious communities over the centuries. The iconostasis and liturgical objects shape its current interior character.

The interior holds 15th-century wooden choir stalls that originally came from the Cistercian convent of Crolles. These antique furnishings add a layer of history from another religious community.
