The three-story building spans 2,500 square meters and features marble staircases with a ceiling decorated with golden bees representing Napoleon III.
Built between 1863 and 1868 at Marshal Randon's request, the structure replaced the former Governor's Hotel from the Ancien Régime period.
The Mountain Troops Hotel houses exhibitions about mountain soldiers and serves as a meeting point for military and civilian interactions.
Guided tours require advance registration at the Friends of Grenoble Museum office, located at 5 place Lavalette, with tickets priced at 10 euros.
The building functions as headquarters for the 27th Mountain Infantry Brigade, where strategic military decisions concerning mountain operations take place.
