Sighnaghi

Situated at 836 meters elevation, Sighnaghi extends across a hillside with fortification walls stretching 4.5 kilometers and incorporating 23 towers and six gates.

King Heraclius II of Georgia established the settlement in 1762, building fortifications to protect the region from raids by Dagestani tribes during the 18th century.

The Sighnaghi Museum houses an extensive collection of archaeological findings and original paintings by the Georgian artist Niko Pirosmani, representing regional heritage.

Minibuses depart from Tbilisi to Sighnaghi every two hours between 07:00 and 17:00, with the journey taking approximately one hour and forty-five minutes.

The Bodbe Monastery, located two kilometers from the city center, contains the tomb of Saint Nino, who introduced Christianity to Georgia in the 4th century.
