Kashveti Church, Georgian Orthodox church on Rustaveli Avenue, Tbilisi, Georgia
The stone church displays Byzantine architecture with a cross-dome design, two functional levels, and detailed frescoes across its interior walls.
Construction of the current structure began in 1904 under architect Leopold Bilfeldt, replacing an earlier brick church from 1753 sponsored by the Amilakhvari family.
The interior frescoes, painted in 1947 by Georgian artist Lado Gudiashvili, represent religious scenes and remain a testament to Georgian artistic expression.
The church stands directly opposite the Parliament building at 9 Rustaveli Avenue, with separate worship spaces on each of its two levels.
The name derives from a legend where a monk predicted a woman would give birth to a stone, combining Georgian words 'kva' and 'shva'.
