The New Athos Monastery contains six churches within a rectangular complex situated 75 meters above sea level on Mount Athos.
Russian monks from Mount Athos established the monastery in 1883 under Emperor Alexander III, who provided funds for its construction.
The monastery's interior features paintings created between 1911 and 1914 by artists from the Russian village of Palekh.
The monastery opens daily from 10:00 to 19:00 except Mondays, with separate dress requirements for male and female visitors.
Architectural elements combine neo-Byzantine designs with golden domes visible throughout Novyy Afon, making it a regional religious center.
