Pitsunda Bay

Pitsunda Bay is a cove along Georgia's Black Sea coast with a gentle curved shoreline and varied beach sections. The northern side rises into rocky hills, while the eastern portion becomes shallower with areas suitable for swimming.

An ancient Greek trading post took root here in classical times and shaped the region for centuries afterward. This early settlement established the bay as a point where sea trade and land routes met.

The bay holds a long connection to the sea that shows in the working harbor and fishing traditions of the people who live here. Daily rhythms of the port and waterfront shape how locals and visitors move through this coastal space.

The beach is covered with pebbles and can get crowded on sunny days, especially in the shallower eastern sections. It helps to arrive early or explore the quieter northern areas for a more relaxed visit.

A forest of special pine trees grows along the land point and shows trees that adapted to coastal conditions over long periods. Walking through this woodland beside the water creates a different side of the place worth discovering.
