Sakornia

Sakornia is a mountain in the Meskheti Range located in Georgia's Guria region, rising to approximately 2700 meters above sea level. The peak sits within the Chokhatauri Municipality area and forms a prominent part of the surrounding highland landscape.

The mountain first appeared in geographical records in the Georgian Soviet Encyclopedia during the 1980s. This early documentation marked the beginning of its official recognition in scientific geographical works.

Local inhabitants of the Guria region maintain traditional practices of seasonal grazing and agricultural activities on the lower slopes of Sakornia.

The most accessible climbing route to the summit starts from the village of Bakhmaro and demands mountaineering experience and proper equipment. Visitors should prepare for challenging terrain and variable weather conditions at altitude.

This summit ranks as the highest point within Ozurgeti Municipality and stands as the second most prominent peak across the entire Guria region. This positioning gives it geographic significance in the local landscape.
