Памятник Параджанову, Monument on Shardeni Street, Tbilisi, Georgia.

The Sergei Parajanov Monument stands as a bronze sculpture depicting the renowned filmmaker in a dynamic pose, capturing his artistic spirit and creative energy through flowing lines and expressive form that reflects his cinematic vision.

Erected on November 6, 2004, to commemorate the 80th anniversary of Sergei Parajanov's birth, this monument was created by Italian sculptor Vazha Mikaberidze based on a famous photograph by Yuri Mechitov showing the director mid-leap.

Parajanov revolutionized Soviet cinema by incorporating Georgian folklore, Armenian traditions, and experimental techniques into his films, creating a distinct visual language that celebrated Caucasian heritage while challenging conventional storytelling methods and artistic boundaries.

Located on pedestrian-friendly Shardeni Street near the Old Town, the monument is easily accessible by foot and surrounded by cafes, galleries, and other cultural attractions, making it a convenient stop during walking tours of Tbilisi's historic district.

The sculpture captures Parajanov in mid-flight based on the iconic photograph 'Time of Flight,' symbolizing his artistic freedom and rebellious spirit during a time when creative expression was often restricted under Soviet rule.
