Trigono municipality, Former municipality in Orestiada, Greece.
Trigono is a former municipality in Orestiada located in the far north of Greece. The area consists of gently rolling hills and plains cut through by river valleys.
Trigono was established as an independent municipality in 1997 but lost its status in 2011 during a government restructuring. It then became absorbed into the larger Orestiada municipality.
The municipal unit includes several communities such as Arzos, Dikaia, Elaia, and Therapeio, each maintaining their local traditions and community practices.
The area sits at the border with Bulgaria and Turkey, offering passage routes to both countries. This border position makes it a practical transit point in northern Greece.
The territory is naturally bounded by the Evros and Ardas rivers, forming a triangular shape. Its western sections reach elevations of roughly 400 meters (1,300 feet).
