Nova Mokošica

Nova Mokošica is a residential area east of Dubrovnik with contemporary apartment buildings arranged along the Ombla River. The settlement sits on the main coastal highway and serves as a transition zone between the old city and surrounding regions.

The settlement emerged in the 1980s when Dubrovnik needed to expand housing after the recent conflict. Since then it has grown in phases with successive waves of residential construction.

The settlement maintains connections with traditional Dalmatian customs while providing residents with contemporary living spaces near the Adriatic coast.

The area connects easily to central Dubrovnik via buses 1A and 1B, with travel time around 20 minutes. Walking through the neighborhood is manageable, though the summer heat can be intense.

The area sits wedged between steep mountain slopes and the river, giving it a narrow linear shape. This natural constraint led to a very linear layout that stretches along the water.
