The Semmelweis University 1st Department of Internal Medicine, now the Department of Internal Medicine and Oncology, occupies a building at Korányi Sándor utca 2/a in Budapest's Józsefváros district. Designed by Flóris Korb and Kálmán Giergl and built between 1908 and 1910, it forms part of the outer clinical block. It has 133 beds and 12 outpatient clinics.

It opened as the 1st Department of Internal Medicine of Semmelweis University. On 1 January 2020 the university's independent Oncology Centre continued its work as the department's Oncology Profile.

Courses in internal medicine, including propedeutics, endocrinology, metabolic bone diseases, nephrology and gastroenterology, are taught in Hungarian, English and German. The department is one of Hungary's leading internal medicine research workshops, and its clinics sit in the outer clinical block of Józsefváros.
