Eshtaol, Agricultural moshav in Mateh Yehuda Regional Council, Israel
Located 6 kilometers north of Beit Shemesh, Eshtaol sits at 283 meters above sea level in the central region of Israel.
The moshav was founded in 1949 by Jewish immigrants from Yemen after the Israeli War of Independence on lands previously belonging to Ishwa and Islin villages.
The residents of Eshtaol maintain individual family farms while participating in communal agricultural activities through the Moshavim Movement organizational structure.
The settlement operates under an elected council system where each household contributes to community projects through a committee tax for infrastructure maintenance.
Archaeological excavations near Eshtaol revealed the oldest structure found in the Shfela region, indicating human presence dating back approximately 10,000 years.
