Nimrod Fortress

The stone fortress extends across a hilltop at 800 meters elevation, featuring multiple towers and defensive walls overlooking the surrounding valleys.

Al-Aziz Uthman constructed the fortress in 1228 to protect against Crusader advances, with subsequent expansions by Mamluk rulers in the following centuries.

The fortress architecture combines military engineering principles from different periods, displaying both Ayyubid and Mamluk construction techniques through its gates and towers.

The national park provides marked paths through the fortress ruins, with information panels explaining the function of different architectural elements.

The water system within the fortress includes deep cisterns and channels carved into the bedrock, demonstrating advanced medieval engineering methods.
