The Chain of Generations Center, Exhibition museum in Western Wall Plaza, Israel
The Chain of Generations Center is a museum located beneath Western Wall Plaza in Jerusalem, presenting Jewish history through glass sculptures and light installations. The exhibition occupies ancient underground chambers with stone walls dating back thousands of years.
The museum occupies archaeological chambers approximately 3,000 years old, documenting various phases of Jerusalem's urban development. These rooms preserve physical traces of the different periods the city has experienced.
The center presents Jewish heritage through glass installations featuring Hebrew letters and biblical passages. Visitors encounter these elements woven throughout the space, representing the continuity of generations.
Access is through underground pathways beneath Western Wall Plaza, with facilities designed to accommodate visitors with varying mobility needs. The subterranean location maintains consistent temperatures, making for comfortable conditions during your visit.
The glass installations were created by artist Jeremy Langford using approximately 150 tons of glass, filling the ancient stone chambers with contemporary material. This combination of historic stonework and modern glass creates a striking contrast between old and new.
