Kashipur, Administrative city in Udham Singh Nagar district, India.
Kashipur is an administrative city in Udham Singh Nagar district of Uttarakhand, sitting at 218 meters elevation in the Kumaun region. The city extends between agricultural fields and industrial zones, serving as an economic hub for surrounding villages.
Kashinath Adhikari founded the settlement in 1639 under King Devi Chand of Kumaon. In 1815, the town moved into focus during British-Gurkha clashes, later developing into a major trading and industrial center.
The name derives from Kashinath Adhikari, the founder who settled here in the 17th century. Local residents today visit the Drona Sagar lake shore for bathing and ritual washing, while pilgrims regularly move between Hindu temples and the Sikh Gurudwara.
The town center is walkable, while rickshaws and local buses connect residential quarters and industrial areas. Morning and evening traffic is heavy on main roads, while midday offers a quieter pace.
More than 600 production facilities shape the cityscape, making it one of the most industrialized towns in Uttarakhand. Surrounding fields at the same time supply rice, wheat, sugarcane, mango, guava, and lychee to regional markets.
