Madhya Bharat, Former state entity in Central India.
Madhya Bharat was an administrative region in Central India formed by combining multiple princely states into a single political entity. The territory covered an area across the central plateau and included sixteen districts organized under unified governance.
This region formed in 1948 by merging twenty-five princely states from the Central India Agency following India's independence. It functioned as a separate administrative unit until it was integrated with other territories in 1956.
The legislative assembly conducted sessions in Moti Mahal of Gwalior, where Jiwajirao Scindia served as Rajpramukh with a 99-member Vidhan Sabha.
The area was centrally located between several other Indian regions and connected by various transportation routes of that period. Visitors interested in this historical region can still find sites and structures that remain from that time.
The region maintained strong agricultural production while incorporating various architectural elements from Rajput and Mughal influences throughout its territories.
