Kulgam district

Kulgam district lies in the Kashmir division and features agricultural valleys surrounded by mountain ranges with natural springs scattered throughout. The landscape combines farming areas with rocky terrain that gives the region its character.

The area was originally called Shampora and received its current name from Mir Syed Hussain Simnani, who joined two Sanskrit terms. This naming shift reflects how the place evolved under different influences.

The road connection to Srinagar runs about 67 kilometers and links the main centers throughout the district. Eleven administrative blocks organize local services, making it easier to find what you need.

The Aharbal waterfall lies within the district and drops from high mountains into natural pools surrounded by rocks. This water feature forms where mountain springs cascade down the slopes.
