Reasi is an administrative district in Jammu division with varied terrain ranging from subtropical lowlands to semi-temperate hills. The Chenab River flows through the landscape, shaping its geography and basic infrastructure.
The area developed from the Bhimgarh State dating to the 8th century and came under Dogra rule in 1822. It gained status as a separate district in 2007.
The area contains multiple religious sites such as Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Temple and Shiv Khori cave shrine that draw pilgrims year-round. These places shape the spiritual life and daily traditions of the communities here.
The area is divided into nine administrative subdivisions and contains over 250 villages where farming is the main activity. Maize and wheat cultivation dominate, while horticulture is gradually expanding.
