Siar Baba Waterfall, Natural waterfall in Reasi district, India.
Siar Baba Waterfall is a waterfall in Reasi district, in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir, dropping over dark rocky faces into a basin below. The surrounding slopes are covered in dense hill forest that frames the fall on all sides.
The waterfall was known for a long time mainly as a place where pilgrims and visitors came to seek both spiritual and natural experiences. A boulder fall in 2018 that struck visitors changed how people and local authorities think about safety at the site.
A temple stands close to the waterfall, and many pilgrims come here to bathe in the water as part of their devotion. The natural setting and the sacred site feel like one continuous space rather than two separate places.
The area is reached via National Highway 144 from Reasi town, though road conditions can change with the seasons. It is best to avoid the site during heavy rain, as mountain streams rise quickly and rocks can become slippery.
The flow changes so much between seasons that the waterfall can look like two entirely different places depending on when you visit. During the monsoon months the water rushes down in wide torrents, while in dry periods only a narrow thread of water remains.
