Balpakram National Park

Balpakram National Park extends across 220 square kilometers of terrain, featuring limestone plateaus, deep gorges, and dense forest at elevations between 300 and 2000 meters.

The Indian government established this protected area in 1986 to safeguard endangered species including clouded leopards, Asian elephants, and hundreds of bird species.

The Garo tribes consider this land sacred, naming it 'the land of spirits' according to their traditions and maintaining numerous legends about its natural features.

Visitors access the park through Baghmara town, with optimal exploration conditions occurring between October and April during the dry season.

The national park contains multiple geological formations with extensive cave systems that support rare butterfly species and endemic medicinal plants.
