Baner

Baner is a residential area in western Pune situated at about 570 meters elevation with wide streets, modern facilities, and open green areas. The Ramnadi river and surrounding hills form natural boundaries around the neighborhood.

The Kalamkar family took control of the area in the 17th century, with Kavaji Kalamkar constructing the Tukai Mata temple on present-day Baner Hill. This early settlement established the region's religious and cultural foundation.

The neighborhood comes alive during the Bagad festival, when residents gather at temples to worship different deities throughout the area. The Bhairavnath Temple becomes a focal point during Navratri celebrations, drawing crowds of worshippers.

The area connects well to the Mumbai-Pune Expressway and sits close to three railway stations—Khadki, Dapodi, and Shivajinagar—within about 8 kilometers. The wide streets make it easy to find your way around whether traveling by vehicle or on foot.

A cave temple near Baner Hill may be as old as 5000 years and is linked to legendary events from the past. This ancient site shows that the area has been considered sacred for an extremely long time.
