Bilikal Rangaswamy Betta, Hill temple destination in Karnataka, India
Bilikal Rangaswamy Betta is a hilltop shrine in Karnataka marked by white granite outcrops rising above the surrounding forest reserve. The summit holds an old temple constructed beneath a large rock formation where a dedicated priest tends the sanctuary.
The temple has long served as a religious site maintained by a permanent priest who keeps the shrine tended across the generations. It has remained a central place of worship and pilgrimage within the local community.
The summit shrine is dedicated to Lord Ranganatha Swamy and holds deep religious meaning for pilgrims who visit to pray and observe rituals. The site remains an important spiritual destination for people from surrounding communities.
The trek begins from Konala Doddi and follows forest paths, so sturdy footwear and careful footing on steep sections are important. The driest months offer better trail conditions and more comfortable climbing.
The forest reserve surrounding the hill is home to diverse wildlife including wild elephants that regularly use the same paths as trekkers. Visitors should remain alert and maintain distance from animals during the climb.
