Belgaum Military School, military school in India
Rashtriya Military School Belgaum is a residential school for boys aged 10 to 12 located in Belgaum, Karnataka. The campus spans over 64 acres and includes academic buildings, dormitories, dining halls, a gymnasium, and sports facilities for cricket, football, hockey, basketball, volleyball, swimming, and squash.
The school was founded on 30 December 1945 as King George VI Royal Indian Military College and was one of India's earliest military schools. It underwent several name changes reflecting the nation's evolution: renamed in 1950 after Indian independence, reorganized in 1952 to accept civilian students, renamed Belgaum Military School in 1966, and became Rashtriya Military School in 2007.
The school is named after British King George V and carries forward a long military tradition in its daily life. Walking through campus, you see the school colors of light and dark blue on uniforms and banners, which create a visible sense of shared identity among students.
Visitors should contact the school administration in advance, as it is located in a military camp area with restricted access. The campus operates on a structured daily schedule, so it helps to confirm visiting hours and any access requirements beforehand.
Graduates carry the traditional title of 'Georgians' and often remain connected to the school, sometimes returning to speak with current students. Notable alumni have gone on to achieve careers in various fields including film and government.
