Mysore Lok Sabha constituency, Parliamentary constituency in Karnataka, India
Mysore Lok Sabha constituency is a parliamentary district in Karnataka that brings together eight legislative assembly segments: Madikeri, Virajpet, Periyapatna, Hunasuru, Chamundeshwari, Krishnaraja, Chamaraja, and Narasimharaja. These areas span across the historic city and the surrounding regions of the state.
The constituency was established in 1952 when India created its first electoral districts after independence. Significant boundary changes occurred in 2007 when Madikeri and Virajpet were added to the area from Dakshina Kannada.
The electoral district includes regions known for traditional Mysore painting, silk production, and the annual Dasara celebrations that represent local heritage.
Visitors can travel through the eight assembly segments to experience the different parts of the region, ranging from hillside communities to urban areas. The best time to explore is during the dry season when roads and local paths are easiest to navigate.
The current Member of Parliament is Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, a member of the former royal family who returned to electoral politics after stepping away for two decades. This return marks a striking moment in the region's political story.
