Kuppalli, village in Karnataka, India

Kuppalli is a small village in Shivamogga district in Karnataka, set in a quiet area surrounded by green hills and fields. The village has simple houses made of wood and stone that blend into the landscape, with daily life moving at a slow, peaceful pace.

The village became known in the 20th century as the birthplace of Kannada poet Kuvempu and played an important role in the development of modern Kannada literature. Another famous writer, Poornachandra Tejaswi, was also born here, making Kuppalli a significant place in Kannada literary history.

Kuppalli is closely tied to Kannada literature as the birthplace of the revered poet Kuvempu. The village preserves his memory through small memorials and stories shared during festivals, showing how the local community values the literary traditions of their region.

The village is about 18 kilometers from Thirthahalli and 80 kilometers from Shivamogga, accessible by car or public buses. The roads are in good condition and lined with trees, making it straightforward to walk around and explore the area on foot.

Kuppalli is also the birthplace of writer Poornachandra Tejaswi, another major figure in Kannada literature whose work deeply explored nature and rural life. Both writers were cremated in this village, making Kuppalli a special place of remembrance for two great literary figures.
