Milagres Church

Milagres Church is a Roman Catholic building in Hampankatta featuring white stone walls decorated with ornate pillars and arches throughout its structure. Inside, you will find multiple altars dedicated to different saints, each arranged to create distinct sacred spaces within the main worship area.

The original church structure was built in 1680 by Bishop Thomas de Castro on land granted by Queen Chennamma of the Keladi kingdom. This royal support helped establish the church as a major Catholic center in the region during that period.

In the cemetery next to St. Monica Chapel, a bronze burial marker honors the architect Thomas de Castro, who designed the original church structure. This memorial offers a direct connection to the skilled craftsman who shaped the building you see today.
