Sanjay Lake, Lake in Trilokpuri, East Delhi, India.
Sanjay Lake is an artificial lake in a forested area of East Delhi, fed by water from nearby rivers. The water surface sits within planted grounds and provides space for walking, biking, and outdoor recreation.
The site was transformed into a lake by urban development authorities in the 1970s and opened to the public in 1982. This project was part of efforts to create more green and water spaces in the expanding city.
The lake draws many people who come to watch and photograph birds that arrive with the seasons. Birdwatchers regularly visit to spot ducks, herons, and other water birds that make this place part of their migration routes.
The site is best visited in early morning or late afternoon when air is cooler and birds are active. Comfortable shoes and sun protection are important since there is little shade on the open pathways.
An adventure park with Wild West-style structures made from natural materials offers visitors an unexpected activity. Tree houses and climbing courses bring excitement to the otherwise quiet natural setting.
