The Tillari Dam rises 38 meters high across the Tillari River, creating a substantial reservoir that extends across 9,290 square kilometers of Maharashtra's landscape.
The construction of this water infrastructure project began in 1986 and reached full completion in 2009, marking a significant advancement in Maharashtra's water management systems.
The dam creation led to the relocation of multiple villages, transforming the social structure and living patterns of local agricultural communities in the Dodamarg region.
The dam supplies 7.5 million liters daily to Chandel water treatment plant and 90 million liters to Assonora plant, serving three talukas in North Goa.
The water management system includes right and left bank canals that reach into different regions, with the main reservoir positioned near Belgaum in Hajgoli village.
